Exploring Five Dimensions of Home
The art of home-making is a delicate and continuous process we all engage in throughout our lives. Our desire to feel safe, to belong, to find comfort, and yet to remain free and authentic individuals creates a constant tension or imbalance that, for some of us, translates into perpetual change.
Going far beyond our usual perception of home, the CREATIVE RESIDENCY inquires deeply into our human nature and the connections we form with our environment.
WHY?
The CREATIVE RESIDENCY is here to provide a transformative space where individuals can deeply explore and redefine their understanding of "home" in a rapidly changing world. As our lives become more mobile and our sense of belonging more fluid, this space offers a unique opportunity to reflect on the personal and collective stories that shape our identities. The CREATIVE RESIDENCY is designed to:
Help participants find a sense of grounding and purpose, no matter where they are in the world.
Encourage cross-cultural exchange
Support Personal Transformation
Reconnect with Nature and Simplicity
HIGHLIGHTS:
Expand perspectives around migration, displacement, belonging and our sense of safety beyond cultural borders.
Craft stories that explore our shared narratives, reshaping our past, present, and future, and inspiring those around us.
Create deep, lasting connections that transcend place and time, supporting us on our life’s journey.
Explore the Swiss Alps, share meals, and experience the richness of life while mastering the art of living.

THE METHOD
Five Dimensions of Home
This special residency program, designed by urbanist and artist Yoav Goldwein, delves into the philosophy of home as portrayed by the great philosophers of modern history and explores our own stories of home and the way they have shaped our lives.
During the month we will follow the “Five Dimensions of Home” methodology designed by Yoav after years of collecting research, stories, and thought-provoking ideas from around the world. The dimensions are:

Big questions lie within those dimensions for each of us. With the help of methods from Process Work and Narrative Therapy and with a special philosophical textbook designed for the residency, we aim to find some of the answers that will help us build better homes for our wandering souls.
-
Our interconnection with the built environment and the physical structures of modern homes.
-
The relationships in our lives, our culture, community, and families, and how we balance between the expectations of society and the free individuals we are.
-
Romantic partners, friends, and close family members and how love can affect the feeling of home for better or worse.
-
Our body is the only home we inhabit that is ours only. How do we find the right correspondence between our skin and what is under it and learn to live authentically?
-
Home is often shaped by our thoughts, memories, nostalgia, and trauma. The home of the future relies on the home of the past but doesn’t have to recreate it.
Good to know💡
The residency allows a work-study lifestyle for those who work remotely and cannot avoid being connected to the outside world. It only requires a commitment of 12 scheduled hours a week of group work and a few flexible hours for individual work.
During the residency, we will have time to explore the area of Leysin and get to know the local community and traditions. During the weekend (Friday-Sunday) and on Wednesdays you will be free to leave the Hub, go skiing, hiking, or traveling to other cities. See activities
THE OUTCOME:
Stories of Home - Rewritten
In this residency, we will have the opportunity to look at our own stories of home from new and fresh perspectives and to reflect on others' stories and their processes in finding home.
We will collect those new-old narratives into an intimate book so we can remember where we came from and where we are going.
We will also aim to reconnect as a group in the years following the residency to continue providing support for each other on this wonderful journey of finding home.

CREATIVE RESIDENCY
is made for:
Digital Nomads and Semi-Nomads who frequently move or live in different places and are interested in understanding what "home" means in a transient lifestyle.
Artists and Creatives who use their work to explore themes of belonging, identity, and place, and who are looking for inspiration or a new perspective on these topics.
Thinkers and Philosophers who enjoy delving into philosophical questions about human nature, identity, and the relationships between people and their environments.
People in Transition, anyone undergoing a significant life change, such as moving to a new place, changing careers, or redefining personal relationships, and who is seeking to redefine or better understand their sense of home.
Individuals Seeking Personal Growth who want to reflect on their past, explore their present, and reshape their future.
“We all yearn for a place to call home—a sanctuary where our bodies and minds can find solace. Throughout history, this sense of safety has been intertwined with movement and wanderlust, gradually transforming into a more rooted and contained concept within physical space. In the 17th century, the modern idea of home as a private realm emerged, and ever since, we have embraced this notion as an essential aspect of human existence on our planet.
In the modern age, as the possibilities for exploring different landscapes increase and trends of economic, political, and environmental displacement become more prevalent, we face a unique challenge. We strive to uphold the idea of home that accommodates the individual subjectivity of the fluid, ever-evolving individual while adapting to the constantly shifting circumstances that both shape and reflect our growing, and sometimes conflicting, desires.”
